Getting Ready At Sandy Point

Ready To Go!

The Start

 Heading to the twin spans

Sea Kayakers were with the swimmers and  boats were just outside the race line For a race safety net. The Coast Guard patroled to keep boats from crossing under the Bay bridge

The Coast Guard was assisted by the Coast Guard Auxiliary. This boat "Our Plaything" did a tremendous job in intercepting bridge bound boats unaware of the swim. I watched as this crew intercepted at least a dozen boats headed for the span. I belive it was this same boat that towed The Chesapeake Explorers Boston Whaler into Sandy Point in 1992 when my drive shaft broke!  Great Job and Well Done "Our Plaything"

The Red and White board was the Sign of the finish!

A large crowd welcomed the swimmers at Hemmingways!

Finishers at time 2:34:58  Congratulations to all the swimmers!
